Edward Rowlands formed 'E Rowlands & Co.' in the mid 1920s as an Insurance Brokerage.
He was joined after World War II by Alex Fazackerley, having retired from the Army after the war, having served in India.
Fazackerley subsequently purchased the business from Edward Rowlands and developed it further, running it on his own until 1978, when he, unfortunately, died in the course of selling the business to a Leeds based Insurance Brokerage. The director in charge of this Leeds brokerage was Andrew Dalby FCII.
Andrew Dalby was joined in 1979 by Robert Willis who joined to run the Financial Services arm of the company. The brokerage was regulated at that time by The Insurance Brokers Registration Council – a voluntary regulatory body.
In 1982, 'E Rowlands & Co.' purchased the insurance broking practice of established Blackpool insurance broker, 'Bernard Hames & Partners' and the company then changed its trading name to 'Rowlands and Hames'.
In 1988, Andrew Dalby and Bob Willis undertook a management buy-out from the Leeds based brokerage and formed 'Rowlands and Hames Ltd.''
Andrew Dalby FCII and Bob Willis Cert PFS were joined as directors by Andrew Farnworth ACII, in 1992, a financial adviser and Chartered Insurace Practitioner, and by John Isles ACII, in 2004, a Chartered Insurance Broker.
